Johnson Valley

Guide Book

The plan is to select one of the many Guide books and do a number of the trails it describes. Most guide books are regional in nature. That allows us to link multiple trails together while reducing the amount of time on the highway. We can do mountain regions in the summer and desert regions in the winter.

Dutch Oven Peach Cobbler

This adventure is 5 to 7 days of scenic, historical maybe challenging wheeling and a number of nights of primitive camping under the stars. You need to be completely self-sufficient - food, shelter and water. We will have a large grill for the fire so you can barbeque your favorite meal if you like. That assumes there is not fire ban in place. Bring a gas stove or grill just in case. We will have the option (group decision) to stay in a motel sometime during the middle of the trip. Unless, you want bragging rights of the number nights camping out and the number of miles off-road without going into town!

How it works

We will let you know which guide book to buy. Then each vehicle signing up for the trip will pick out one trail they would like to do. We will consolidate the trails and put them in the best sequence for the trip. That will dictate a meeting location which will be in the trip plan along with the sequence of trails. We reserve the right to veto a trail if it is too difficult for the group overall.

Terrain
Much of the trail is well graded

Terrain

Expect almost any kind of terrain to ranging from sandy washes to deep wash outs, small berms or steps, flat desert, to hills, rocks, and forests.

Camp Site
Camp site

Camp

On this trip we will set up camp each night in a different location. You can tent camp or sleep in your vehicle. An off-road Adventure type trailers is likely ok on this run. This is the desert & mountains. It can get cold and night and we have no control over the wind or heat. A high wind can hamper our cookout.

T&T Rail Road

Difficulty:

The guide book will list the difficulty levels and what to expect.

Medical Self-Assessment

There is inherent risk associated with all the activities involved with off-road driving including the risk of illness in remote areas without medical facilities. Badlands Off-Road Adventures does not conduct a medical screening, examination, or review of the health and fitness of clients & customers to participate in our training programs and adventures trips. It is incumbent on each person to assess their medical capability to participate. By enrolling in our events, you are certifying you are medically fully capable of participating in the activity.
